What is STK Lab?

Mapping technics often use toxic reagents that are time consuming and dangerous to use both for DNA and the operator. Alternate Light Sources are known for generating lots of false positives and also... false negatives.

As semen is most of the time deep in the fabric, STK Lab pre-impregnated paper is the most efficient solution to find semen traces on any textile evidence.

STK Lab is ready to use, non-toxic, highly sensitive and specific to semen. It is the perfect solution to screen clothes, bed sheets and textile evidences.

Fully compatible with DNA extraction techniques, STK Lab is being used in routine in crime laboratories in the world for several years now and helped to solve thousands of rape cases.

Tested in parallel with Crimescope (CSS filter and orange and red glasses) STK Sperm Tracker clearly showed its ability to overcome fabric constraints (improved sensitivity) and to carry out two operations in one: both pinpoint stains and reveal their acid phosphatase activity. More reliable, faster and easier to set than the method currently in force within the INPS, STK Sperm Tracker represents a real step forward in the forensic field.

Is STK Lab toxic?

Unlike classic AP spot test, STK Lab is absolutely not toxic for the user.

Is STK Lab damaging DNA?

No, STK Lab is not damaging DNA and is fully compatible with extraction techniques.

ALS are simple to use and faster, why should I use STK Lab?

ALS are known for generating lots of false positives that are time and money consuming to discard. Faster you said? Sure? But worse, ALS are also generating lots of false negatives! Internal studies for our customers revealed best ALS are missing >30% of semen stains…

Wet paper is curling, how can I do?

You can pine evidence with STK Lab paper. You can also “sandwich” the evidence with STK Lab paper to do both side in the same experiment, pine evidence and staple both side of STK Lab paper together.

I don’t have a press device, what can I do?

Many labs are in this situation. We developed a press device, you can contact us at sales@axoscience.com. You can also use a board of wood / glass with some foam to “absorb” hard pieces such as zipper or button and then put some weight on top of it.

Can I use any UV light?

No, you have to use a 365nm UV light with visible light filter. Not every 365nm UV light give great results, please use a positive control to validate your UV light. We can recommend some specific 365nm UV lamp if needed.
